DICK LARSEN TREASURER - TAX COLLECTOR / PUBLIC ADMINISTRATOR COUNTY OF SAN BERNARDINO
On June 2nd, 1998 Dick Larsen was elected San Bernardino County Treasurer-Tax Collector and in January of 2005,
the Board of Supervisors appointed Mr. Larsen Public Administrator. Mr. Larsen is responsible for the
day-to-day management of over $3.5 billion, AAA rated Investment Pool, which is the treasury for all County
Schools, Departments and Special Districts. He oversees the collection of nearly $2 billion in property
taxes and serves as a Trustee for the San Bernardino County Board of Retirement where he is chairman of the
Investment Committee. As Public Administrator Dick is also responsible for managing decedent's estates
and the disposition of their assets.
Dick is a graduate of San Diego State University with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. He also has a
Master of Arts in Management from the University of Redlands. He has taught graduate level management courses
and has led many seminars on subjects ranging from management accounting, budgeting, information systems, and
investment pool management.
Dick has been active in the community for over 35 years, and has held many positions in community
organizations. He served on the Redlands City Council from 1983-87 where he was a Council Member
and Mayor Pro Tem. Dick has also served on the Redevelopment Agency Board, Airport Advisory Committee,
Parks and Recreation Committee and various other city committees.
For nearly 20 years, he served on the Board of Directors and as Treasurer for Arrowhead Credit
Union. He also served on the Board of Directors for the First Steps Child Care Center and has
also been involved with the East Valley United Way and the Inland Empire United Way/Mt. Baldy
for nearly 20 years.
Dick has also been known for his role as a founder of the Redlands Bicycle Classic; a member
of the Redlands Optimists Club, the Historic Preservation Corporation, the Redlands Economic
Development Corporation, the Redlands Chamber of Commerce, and was previously a board member
of the Enterprise for Economic Excellence and the Technology Access Partnership. He is also
the recipient of the Optimist of the Year award.
